Watching the force speed along deserted roads in high-end vehicles with a helicopter in pursuit—while chasing a truck loaded with over 1,000 kilograms of explosives capable of obliterating the entire city—captures your undivided attention.
There is a scene that leaves us breathless—the moment the GIGN force attempts to detonate the bomb. That was when I realized just how serious this show is. We’ve seen Korean shows that get straight to the point; similarly, this French show doesn’t waste time with unnecessary filler and cuts right to the heart of the matter.
At times, you might feel the show is veering off track from its main storyline, but in my opinion, that isn’t the case; it is simply part of the narrative, even if the pace slows down to stretch the series out. The impression that the plot is drifting arises because, despite the Elite Force having a critical mission—and considering that even 5 kg of explosives is extremely dangerous—the show shifts focus to drama, emotions, and personal matters. If 500 kg of explosives were missing in reality, your reaction would be intense; yet, the show pauses the tension surrounding the explosives to explore these personal elements, making it seem like it has lost its way. However, the story eventually picks up right where it left off. I can’t reveal the entire plot here, so you’ll have to watch the show yourself.
Final Verdict
I can say with conviction that the show’s production quality is top-notch. Instead of relying on VFX and CGI, the makers clearly focus on practical effects. For instance, when a helicopter was required, they actually used a real one—which is evident on screen—and elements like the gunfights feel completely authentic.
The gunshots and action sequences are fantastic—you’ll definitely want to tell me what you think after watching the show. I can tell you that the very first episode will hook you completely, and you won’t be able to stop watching until the finale. It’s the perfect choice for a weekend binge-watch.
