I am aware that Episode 7 of Lanterns was released quite some time ago, and I am reviewing it today only because I was extremely busy with other work; however, I will strive to complete my tasks on time moving forward. Right now, we will focus exclusively on the released seventh episode of Lanterns, and you will find all the details here. Let’s now turn to our exclusive topic: Lanterns Episode 7 Review: Dark Secret Exposed at Last.

Story of Lanterns: Episode 7

As for the story, Hal Jordan and John Stewart remain at the center, but this episode brings us just one step away from the Season 1 finale. The most interesting aspect of Episode 7 is that, while Hal Jordan has died, we get to see how he became the man he was; we are introduced to a young Hal Jordan and the story of his father, Martin Jordan, while also witnessing the distinctive attitude that defined Hal.

Additionally, we get to experience an unexpected partnership between John Stewart and Hal Jordan in the present-day timeline. We won’t delve further into the plot details here you will have to experience the rest for yourself by watching the episode.

The primary highlight of Lanterns Episode 7 is its focus on character

That is absolutely correct; Episode 7 places a strong emphasis on character development, making it well worth watching. This is arguably the episode’s greatest strength a view shared by many. From the outset, Lanterns has avoided presenting itself as a traditional superhero show. Instead of focusing heavily on the capabilities of the Lantern rings, the series centers on the individuals who wield that power.

We don’t simply view Hal Jordan as an experienced Green Lantern or a legendary hero; the episode delves into his personality, his relationships, and the emotional history that defines him. This approach is likely what makes the show and these episodes stand out as something truly unique.

The Dynamic Between John Stewart and Hal Jordan

We have already seen in the show that the relationship between John Stewart and Hal Jordan is far from simple. While there is mutual respect, there is also evident frustration and unresolved tension between them.

However, Episode 7 specifically moves beyond viewing them merely as mentor and student or simply as Green Lanterns; instead, the show places greater emphasis on their shared personal history and emotional baggage.

In this episode, John Stewart appears more emotionally vulnerable, whereas Hal Jordan drives the narrative forward in his own distinct way. This approach not only propels the story but also makes the episode compelling.

Mystery: The Greatest Strength

Mystery is crucial to driving this show forward, and it is precisely this element that keeps the narrative progressing effectively. The central mystery remains: how exactly was Hal Jordan killed, and who is behind it? While Episode 7 reveals certain details, the show wisely avoids handing the audience easy answers; instead, it introduces a host of new questions.

Based on Episode 7, we can confidently say that the episode’s purpose goes beyond merely solving a mystery it is also about setting the stage for the finale. This distinction transforms Episode 7 from a standard action-heavy installment into a character-driven episode focused on laying the groundwork for what is to come.

What is Hal Jordan’s past?

Episode 7 explores Hal Jordan’s past, and indeed, this forms a major part of the episode. Here, the show focuses on an interesting theme: legacy. It examines how deeply a person is influenced by their family, their past, and their life experiences, and whether we carry forward the things we inherit from those around us. This theme becomes central to the show.

However, while this theme is crucial, some viewers might find the flashback sequences a bit slow though they are likely essential for effectively building the story. Episode 7 prioritizes emotional storytelling over action. Whether you agree or not, if you view this series merely as a superhero action show, it might not appeal to you; but if you approach it as a character drama, it becomes deeply meaningful. While there is certainly superhero action to be found, we must not forget that the show places its primary focus on character drama.

Atmosphere and Cinematography

Visual presentation is a crucial aspect of any show significantly enhancing the viewing experience which makes it an important topic to discuss. The Lanterns series maintains a grounded tone; its atmosphere feels distinct from traditional superhero shows because the focus is placed squarely on the characters. Episode 7 strikes a balanced blend of small-town mystery, investigation, and significant cosmic elements.

The show repeatedly signals that this is not a typical superhero series, but rather a crime mystery and character drama an approach I found particularly appealing. Yet, amidst this, the show reminds us that the Green Lantern mythology remains at the heart of the narrative a vital component of the story.

Final Verdict

Episode 7 is definitely worth watching. I say this because every episode plays a crucial role in advancing and developing the story, and Episode 7 titled The Jordan Boys Legacy is particularly significant.

In Episode 7, we get a glimpse into Hal Jordan’s past, which adds greater depth to the narrative. While some flashback sequences feel a bit slow and tend to drag the pacing, they are arguably essential to the story. I won’t give away any spoilers; I’d rather you watch the episode and form your own perspective. However, the cinematography, storytelling, and presentation are outstanding you’ll agree once you watch it.

My Rating

For me, Episode 7 of Lanterns was excellent because I really wanted to find out who Hal Jordan actually is; this episode provided that answer, as well as insights into his past. I can say that the story is effectively moving forward by placing a strong focus on the characters. We can also see the significance of the characters John Stewart and Sheriff Kerry Kane. Overall, given the excellent story, character drama, cinematography, and presentation, I’ve had a great experience with the show, and I am giving Episode 7 a rating of 4/5.
