It wouldn’t be wrong at all to call Westworld a masterpiece. You’ve likely come across the show’s name on your feed at some point, though many people may have overlooked it perhaps because it demands a significant investment of your time. However, I believe it is definitely worth giving it a chance. The only reason I can imagine for someone ignoring it is that it is available only in English and hasn’t been dubbed in other languages; consequently, many people haven’t watched it. But today, I’m going to tell you why you should watch it and what makes it special enough to warrant your time.
If you appreciate intelligent cinema and enjoy watching mature shows or films, then you will like this show. It wouldn’t be wrong to describe it as complicated or confusing; you need to pay close attention to truly grasp it. When I first started watching, I felt like a lot of things were happening without any real purpose, but that turned out not to be the case at all. A casual viewer watching for the first time might expect the show to feature robots, but that is not the reality. Before we delve into the actual story and the mystery surrounding it, let’s take a look at what the plot is all about. Now, let’s talk about our exclusive topic: Westworld Show Review: This Brilliant Series Is a True Masterpiece.
Story of Westworld (2016)
The story revolves around a company that has created a theme park; however, it features no dinosaurs or amusement rides instead, it is populated by robots. Yes, the park is filled with robots. These robots believe they are human; if shot, they bleed, and just like humans, they can even die though they are subsequently repaired. They have been programmed to perceive themselves as human rather than robotic. The park creates a world that resembles America in the 16th and 17th centuries. People visit to live out their fantasies perhaps to play the role of Robin Hood or simply to experience life in a bygone era. It caters to the deep-seated desire many of us have to witness or inhabit the past. Naturally, it is a destination for billionaires, as such an experience is far beyond the means of the average person.
In the show, the androids are referred to as “hosts,” while the visitors wealthy billionaires are called “guests.” Once these billionaires arrive, there are virtually no rules or regulations governing their behavior; they can do whatever they please with anyone, which gives you an idea of the kind of content the show features. However, this freedom applies only to their interactions with the androids; they cannot harm other humans. While the hosts (androids) frequently fight and even shoot one another, they are programmed in such a way that they cannot kill a human, no matter what. Security is a top priority within this theme park setting, allowing billionaires to indulge in anything from leisure and bloodshed to navigating various game levels. You will see a wide array of other activities taking place in the park that you can enjoy. Once you watch the show, you will realize that the central mystery doesn’t feel like a typical mystery at all.
But if you really think about it, it is essential to understand what this show is actually about. It is based on a brilliant, intelligent concept that covers a wide range of subjects consciousness, free will, identity, memory, human nature, artificial intelligence, God and creation, and morality. You get to explore all these themes within a single show, which is truly impressive. After watching each episode, you are compelled to reflect: What just happened? Why did it happen? And was what occurred actually right? Such questions will keep arising in your mind as you progress through the episodes. And precisely for this reason, it becomes a complex and confusing show.
If you try to skip through the episodes, you won’t grasp the ending at all; you really need to watch it at a steady pace to truly understand it. Patience is essential when watching this show; only by engaging with the story and becoming emotionally invested will you fully comprehend the conclusion. I can promise you that once you get hooked, you’re going to have a fantastic time. After finishing one season, you won’t be able to stop yourself from watching the next. Admittedly, this show isn’t for everyone many might give up on it halfway through. While its addictive nature might keep some watching, those who fail to connect with the narrative likely won’t continue; however, for anyone who does get invested, it’s going to be an excellent experience.
The trouble in the park begins when some of the robots driven by artificial intelligence start developing consciousness. They begin to realize things they aren’t supposed to know and start acting beyond their programming all triggered by a glitch. To see exactly how this unfolds, you have to watch the show; however, keep in mind that it requires a great deal of patience. You might not understand much at first, but once you become invested in the story, everything starts to make sense so you really need to give the show time.
Westworld: Worth Watching?
If you enjoy science fiction, mind-bending mysteries, and incredible, unexpected twists, then this show is going to be fascinating and thrilling for you. It doesn’t just offer entertainment; it compels you to think deeply. So, if you appreciate intelligent storytelling in movies or series, this is definitely worth watching. The blend of mystery and suspense makes it even more exciting.
The show repeatedly poses a fundamental question: if a machine can think and feel like a human, can it also be considered a person? This central question makes the series increasingly compelling it is certainly worth giving a chance. The only drawback is that it is available only in English; it has not been dubbed into any other language, so keep that in mind.
